Expressive Arts Therapy

"All of a sudden, the missing piece began to grow... and grow..."
- Shel Silverstein

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) specializing in somatic and arts based psychotherapy. I have a trauma-sensitive lens and offer an integration of expressive arts therapy, relational therapy, somatic therapy, hakomi method, family constellation and internal family systems. I spent 5 years working with marginalized populations and survivors of abuse and intimate partner violence in non-profit and anti-violence agencies in Vancouver and Victoria, BC.
I have a somatic approach and view our bodies as a vessel of wisdom. I will support you in turning towards your body with kindness, compassion and curiosity to discover the messages held within. I love working with clients who are in the midst of big life transitions; clients who are wanting to connect to their creativity and creative fire; and clients who are wanting to reestablish a new relationship with their body where they can feel safe, integrated and connected. I support LGBTQ2S+ communities and work with both kids and adults.
Expressive Arts Therapy is offered in a low-skill and high-sensitivity way. You do not need to have any previous experience with art. In many cases, cultivating a beginners mind helps the artistic process to unfold naturally. During the process, an artistic work may arrive to you, whether it is an image, poem, song or dance. You may not understand the significance of it. It's important to let go of any ideas about this work and instead view it from its point of view - from its Soma. By staying with our perceptual and sense experience, the creative work can be known. We will take time to reflect on this work and explore questions intended to help you deepen the experience and draw meaning and connection back to your life.
